Good thing too, as it's not Ivory, and it doesn't float.

Yes, pretty typical of his work.

The oil was purchased for its purdy colors and the other just because it's weird...

komokwa, there are people who only look at the subjects that interest them and never even bother to look at the finds thread. The glass and pottery board on ebay is a good example. The specialists were always asking people to put glass or pottery in the subject line so they didn't waste their time.

Believe it or not, there are still a lot of people on dial up connections, especially in rural and remote areas. It would probably take hours to load that finds thread with all the pictures and all those pages. I was surprised to read how many areas don't have options other than dial up.

Thanks much! I know not a lot of value but could not pass it by.

    Thanks!

The thrift stores around here are amazingly good for picking. The one with stuff for a quarter is in a small town nearby. They keep irregular hours and they don't have a lot. There is rarely much over $5.00 there. For example, all clothes and shoes are $1.00. Jewelry is always $1.00 or less. I don't go there too much but drop in from time to time.

The more local thrift stores are higher priced but still reasonable. One has started pricing their furniture higher and, quite often, there is not enough room for me to re-sell. Their other things are quite reasonable. The local Goodwill has just started pricing all their housewares, art, and furniture lower than they used to. I had quit going there much because things were priced so high but will start going more if they remain reasonable. I just missed out on a killer MCM dresser for $25.00 there the other night. I did buy a nice Thomasville nightstand for $9.00 and that is where I bought the pottery lamp.

Just have to keep beating the bushes. I hit the thrifts every time I am in town. Living 25 miles out, I don't go as much as I used to. This is particularly true in Winter. Once Spring hits, I am sure to be finding more.

Nuff, someone asked me to sell a Chegal for them and then changed their mind. I think it was the same image. I wonder if I still have the photographs?

Brad, I stopped going to the GW for the same reason. I stopped in when I made a donation a few weeks ago and the prices were still high.

The Goodwill's here mostly have NIB store reject stuff. Often priced higher than it was in the store that donated it because they couldn't sell it.

Yes, very! I call him 'GW' because he reminds me a bit of former president Bush.

@Brad, you are most welcome. But please take the dating I gave you with a grain of salt. The contemporary fans (second image below) can look almost as good as the 19th/early-20th C. pieces (first image). You have the item in-hand so you'll be the best judge of the age of the material (silk, wood & brass rivets).

@MillCove, it probably is the same image. There were plenty of them produced (unsigned edition number around 6K). The signed edition number around 90 and can sell for a pretty penny. The one I have sells for around $200 - $300 (retail: $600 - $800). http://www.ebay.com/itm/1957-Marc-Chagall-GUARANTEED-Original-LITHOGRAPH-Maternite-and-Centaur-FRAMED-/221666597986?nma=true&si=13Rxfr9ExEQW9zHgxvjdOpW61dc=&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

I'll probably lot it with a Picasso piece I have from the '60s and a Miro from the '70s. A good start for someone's collection.

Will do. My fan has some age to it with tarnished rivets and faux graining on the handle. I was thinking more like 20s-30s than turn of the century but I see how it could be even later. The one you posted is nearly identical.

Thanks, Haven't found any exactly like them but have found some similar ones. Just found that the UL sticker is marked Imperialites so will have to search using the maker.

"Mats Jonasson Swedish lead crystal relief of a polar bear. There are several variations of these and size matters. This one is medium in size at 5 3/8". Couldn't believe it was only a quarter"

He does very nice work...I especially like the quality and clarity of his pieces..
They do not seem to sell well on Ebay....but hey..for a quarter...you will make some profit...;)

Ice storm this morning kept the auction crowds down. I felt at $143 I couldn't pass up this 1946 Mills Black Cherry in the scarce 25-cent configuration. Needs total restoration but still a good machine for the money. 76 lbs tho!!!! 6801-4.jpg

    Cool finds everyone.
Fairly scarce Lisa Larson Gustavsberg "Jonah and the Whale" pottery sculpture. This has a tight professional repair to the top, but I thought it was a pretty good buy for $6. Another piece in perfect condition sold for around $600 on Ebay in October.

komokwa The Truth is out there...!

komokwa, there are people who only look at the subjects that interest them....

I find it very sad, that those folks would not take advantage of such a great site with such a wide variety subjects , explained in detail by a community of wise folks !

I read all the threads! I know zip about art and enjoy the information provided by folks that know what they are looking at.
I picked these chairs up today, the material is in wonderful condition and I love the colours!
Moon I love that piece, should do well even with the repair.
@Salvatorparadise is that a slot machine? Looks very cool!
