Haven't posted anything in this thread for a long time. Went to my friends basement today, some of the items that came home with me.
My favourite is the mice match holder/striker:) The wood shoe holder/striker I'll have to start a thread on, no idea what kind of wood it is. Tea caddy day, 2 wood and one 830 silver

I think the round wooden box is a tobacco caddy or similar, or was intended that way.

I guess you could put whatever in it, but thanks to @wlwhittier on my caddy thread, he let me know it is made of cherry bark and is a tea caddy/canister:) I've never seen one before, kind of a neat piece.

Evelyb30-So a 'Tag Sale' is we call a amateur's Garage or is it a managed Estate Sale ?

Tag sales here are usually people liquidating things to move. Estate sales here are people who have passed away or who are moving because of age/medical conditions. It's confusing.

This did alright on eBay long, long ago... and it was just an empty box with sheet of advertising (7 Sutherland Sisters):

One of those pieces I kinda wish I'd hung on to.

Tag, yard, and garage sales are all regional names for the same thing. Pretty much the same as a boot sale. Vide Garnier if you're French. (attic empty-er) Estate sales generally mean someone has died or moved to assisted living and the house has to be cleaned out. Some sales are hybrids. Some are professionally managed and some aren't. Moving sales can be listed as either or both. Lots of moving sales get called estate sales - especially those when the family doesn't want to haul along a ton of furniture meant for the old house.

Boot sales aren't on your forecourt or in your garage though, they're on a field with hundreds of others. Closer to a flea or vide grenier.

lol, it is a fun place. He has been picking for years and kept everything. His house is like going into a gallery/museum, displays of goodies all over his house, the rest is in boxes waiting to see the light of day once again:)

Nice and red and definitely worth hauling home. Went into two charity shops today after spending $2 on printer paper in the Goodwill and $1 on what may be a late production Van Briggle vase. The vase is still in my trunk. At the first I found a pin for $3 that I've passed over before. Looked like costume... costume made of 14k. It's still rather plain, but it'll melt just fine. Spent $3 at the second too - three tie tacks, two probably Italian 800 silver and one small and ugly in 14k. The silver ones have marks but the gold one didn't. Go figure.

2- Set of 6 green Depression Era wines
3- Set of 5 gray cut green Depression Era tumblers
4- Set of 4 gray cut pink Depression Era tumblers, Dunbar I think
5- Set of 2 uranium green Depression Era tumblers

Depression Glass jar, I haven't had a chance to ID it yet but I am sure I will find it in my books.

McCoy hanging pot left and a not as yet IDed flower pot right.

Danecraft Felch & Co sterling pin and 2 shell cameo necklaces, the one on the left is costume metal, the one on the right sterling chain, costume pendant. The cameos aren't great (Bronwen has rubbed off on me ;)) but the one on the left isn't to bad.

Sterling white topaz ring on left, sterling blue and white topaz center, 14k white gold with red quartz on the right.

Lastly, gorgeous Victorian garnet pin missing 2 garnets, I think I may have replacements in my stash, just have to look. And Victorian 14k portrait pin/pendant with blue spinel upper left, red and blue spinel plus seed pearl on lower right, sold to me as costume
