    Today I found 11 sterling bread dishes at the thrift store. $1.00 each!
    Total weight 826.1 grams!

    And I just wish I was the one to find it! They probably thought they were International Silver, aka good plant-holders. $571 in scrap for $11 plus tax ... I'd take that home any old time. I found a small Waterford bowl today for $2 - better than nothing.

    Made a quick stop in a local thrift after an appointment this morning and it was well worth my while! Got a woo-hoo Paragon cup and saucer as well as a nice Reed and Barton silverplate tea pot with my initial on. On the bottom of the teapot there are the letters USSB… I found a source that said this stands for the United States Shipping Board. Anyone know if this is true? “The USSB was an emergency agency established by the US Shipping Act of 1916 to increase US ships supporting the WWI efforts. The program ended in 1934.”

    No idea about the USSB. If it were a commercial ship they would have spelled out the name, and if was Navy wardroom spelled out for sure.

    Yeah, there's so much plate out there, that the shops don't even look for marks. But I do!
    The whole stack is quite heavy. We used two of them for serving cookies last night!
