I hate when that happens with stinky stuff. I have that happen with books.

I am guessing they are mid century decor.

Finding any at all is a miracle in these parts. The post-War souvenir stuff is easily found; the real deal is more difficult, by a lot.

I would start by getting rid of the paper on the back. If you want you can cut the labels out & save them inside a Ziploc bag which can be taped to the new backing paper.

I would use brown craft/packing paper like shown below.

    https://www.walmart.com/ip/Duck-Bra...own-Kraft-Packing-Paper/20531383?athbdg=L1600

I would also do as @komokwa suggested & give them a good going over with Windex before reapplying the new paper.

If all else fails you could take them to a framing place to get an estimate from them for dismantling them, cleaning up all the parts & then reframing them using the original frames.

Let us know how you make out on the pieces.:happy:

A couple of finds from this weeks clearance and probably the last clearance this year.

Victorian pine 4 drawer chest with glass knobs (stripped)

Another box which is in need of restoration.
I aim to rub it down and wax it.

That poor Victorian dresser makes my fingers itch. The artist (such as it is) in me dearly wants to have a go.

    Was it originally grain painted?

It would have had several coats of paint on and was probably stripped in a caustic soda tank in the 80's.
There is no evidence of any paint on it now, the only problem with dipping them in tanks is it dissolves any glues it had and makes them loose.

The box has turned out good though, I've sanded it down and waxed it this evening.
    Pictures to follow

Here's the box, it took an hour, its only the second time I've done this in my life.

I mostly stuffed my own stocking as usual. (LOL) The bar pin is dragon's breath glass. Found a typewriter key bracelet and kept it. The rest is just "stuff I liked". The ones in the upper left corner were all things I gave Mom and she gave back!

Favorite pick today for $5.99+ is this complete headstall, bridle, reins and bit. The full cheek snaffle bit is really cool with decorative bronze mounts, not like I’ve seen before.
