Geek says it's not any De Havilland plane, nor any real one, for that matter. (He's good on this stuff, trust me - writes articles.) The UK logo is a Mosquito with D H as the engines.

Might be worth contacting the Moth museum - but I'm actually wondering if this is some fantasy thing.

This thing is old - reliably old. It came from my aunt and was in with all her other service pins. I assumed it was a service pin. Who would make a thing like this as a purely fantasy item? What was the market? I'm satisfied that she received it through De Havilland. I might never know what it means, but I'm happy to have it as a curiosity.

Thank you for looking. Frankly, I never expected this to be any cause for discussion. The interest is curious in itself.

Pure Poison, just gotta love the names they come up with.

I don't know if Taylor Swift has a perfume out... If she does and I bought my wife one, I would SURELY have problems!!

I think she actually does have one out. Hmm - quickly Googled, she actually has several. I had a remote thought of trying some out but "shook it off". ;-)

Well, my wife knows that I have the biggest crush on Swift. She bought me two of her CDs for Christmas. She's also trying to win me tickets to one of her concerts. She already said that she won't go but can take my oldest daughter, lol.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg This was in a box full of tea cups and saucers at the goodwill. The box was $5. I did some quick research on the pieces and came across this one. It's Beleek saucer and creamer. The mark on the cup had it dated around 1955-1965. The mark on the plate has it dated 1965-80. These pieces appear to go together so I'm assuming the plate is 1965.

The reason I'm assuming is that every cup and saucer in that box, were matching sets. There was about 10 matching sets.

Beleek is good! Was it all Beleek?

Unfortunately, it was the only set. Now I know about Beleek, I'll keep my eyes open for it.

Quite a few things to show and will split in to a couple posts. Have been on a bit of an art spree due more to opportunity to acquire than for any other reason. All the art is pretty much unresearched at this point. All this in this first post are from the thrifts.

    Wire waste basket was $3.00.
    stuff1024.jpg

Japanese block print has been matted and framed rather recently. May have to pull it apart to have a good look. Bought for $10.00.
    stuff1026.jpg

Mixed media signed Voelket. Has some age to it and pic doesn't do justice. Framed and matted under glass. Has a kind of Egyptian look to it but really don't think it is Egyptian. Bought for $4.00.
    stuff1027.jpg

Quite large pair of prints at framed size of 29" x 25". Look to be mass produced lithographs but are pencil signed. Signature is undeciphered as of yet and I will probably create a post in the art threads if I can't figure it out. I am not too crazy about these but love the simple antique gold frames. At $6.00 each, I could not pass them by.

    stuff1029.jpg

Paint by number framed under glass. Bought for $2.00.
    stuff1030.jpg
Melamine bowl like Texasware or Boonton but unmarked. Think this probably makes this a reproduction but, at $2.00, I think that's OK.
    stuff1031.jpg

14K gold w/ pink star saphire ring. Unmarked but tests out. Very tiny and cut down from a larger ring. It is pictured on my pinkie! Someone has taken a chunk out of the top to cut this down so think it is pretty much scrap at this point. No complaints at $2.00.
    stuff1032.jpg

8" Spanish tile. Bought for $1.00.

The rest of this was all free. Neighbors are in the process of moving and set it all curbside with a free sign. Besides what is pictured, I got an antique painter's easel and a nearly new Toro self-propelled lawn mower!

I left behind three other paintings that were more amateur. Also left a small bar sized fridge that seemed in perfect condition. There was also luggage, furniture, and some other stuff that I didn't take. It all got snatched up right away so I must have been first in line. Just happened to come home at the right time I guess.

This painting on canvas is signed A. Allen and dated 1916. Very good condition and reasonable size at 15" x 23" excluding the frame.
    stuff1025.jpg

Tourist oil on board signed Elitro. Maybe Greece?
    stuff1033.jpg

Tropical watercolor signed Sarif. Water damage at corner won't really be noticeable once matted.
    stuff1034.jpg

This little white cabinet/shelf has seen better days but I thought it kind of interesting.

Found that the block print is by Kitagawa Utamaro (1753-1806). Obviously a later edition so I have more research to do.

Edit: Found some later editions of this from the 60/70s so think this is probably what I have.
