If I had more time and money our swap has had some pretty good storage clean outs selling and it is just like she said, Im usually a day late

 

There was some good sales around this town this weekend but I had to work and child birthday party

 

There's a couple of guys I think never hit sales before finding what treasures come out of truck cars and it is a perhona< frenzy

 

Mymysharona: Use fedex or parcel post shipping. Since it needs to be rewired, unscrew the harp to make it flatter to avoid oversize shipping. Just remember that metal CAN break, and that sharp edges can pierce the box walls. Extra cardboard or thick newsprint usually work to protect it all. Glad you found the maker, Markel is a good one.

 

Thank you I will heed that advise. I do pack well when I do ship large, but it is just not very often. I did send a old fan heavy years ago and it broke, truly, never thought it would break, so lessons learned

Here's a close-up image of the inkwell. There's a French mark under the lid and the rim is inscribed 'Maquet Paris-Nice'. The porcelain is marked on the interior in Chinese script.

 

What I thought was an Asian hat finial it is not. It's an 1860s "Posy Holder" by Alexander Macrae. One sold in April of this year for 600GBP ($1,000+ USD).

That bat is just so perfect. If I saw the silverwork decoration on anything else I would be assuming a date in the late 1800's as a starting point.

Some really good things found here of late. It really is a buyer's market right now. The stuff is out there!

It has gotten to the point where I am not sure what I have photographed yet. I also know that some things have gone directly to the store before I got a chance to show them. For example, I picked up a sterling weighted base compote for 75 cents last week that went directly to the store. I am sure there are other things.

That said, here are a bunch of things I got photographed this AM. I will break this in to a couple posts so it is not too long. All are thrift store finds unless noted otherwise......

This art glass dish was 55 cents. Murano?



Picked up this Banthrico bank building bank for $2.50 from a fellow dealer who was having a 50% off sale in her booth. It is a 1970s Colorado Springs bank premium. These have become quite collectible in Chicago where they were made. I see they are kind of lukewarm on ebay right now.



This MCM W. German pottery vase was $6.00 from the same dealer.



This medium sized jewelry casket was 55 cents.



This lot of 8 small glasses was $4.00.



This mixed lot was $2.50. I probably would not buy a partial set like this but know that this pattern sells pretty well.



This MCM melamine ashtray was a buck from the dealer's half price sale.

I picked up two of these 60s block prints signed Saro (The one signature is hidden under the frame). They are from Denmark and I find a few others here and there on the net but have not been able to find out anything about the artist. Seem to be a good buy for $7.00 for the pair.





These two prints came from the same thrift at the same time as the above so I think maybe from the same household. Seem to date to about the same time period. The first has an impossible signature. The second may have slipped from the mat, hiding a signature (I hope). I will examine it out of the frame and will post them in a separate thread for ID. Bought for $10.00 each.





This coral necklace and seed pearl bracelet were $2.00 each.



This small green pottery vase was 55 cents. I will post it in a separate thread for ID.

Brad, your yacht print is by Lyonel Feininger

 

I have that same sailboat image ... it's Lyonel Feininger. I could not find a dot pattern on it, but looks like a prelim sketch, maybe silk screened? One image I have held onto for ages, it even hangs in my bedroom.

 

Thanks! I figured this out just after I posted a thread about it. I was looking at the signature in the picture and it just struck me ...... Funny how looking at a photo can sometimes be more productive than looking at the real thing
