BMRT Jewelry cherry-picker, lover of silver

Who knows? It was unexpected to see the crossed rifles and it made me laugh. I love silver and enamel so of course it came to live with me. :shame:

Thank you for sharing these! I bet your immensely proud of your daughter. I would be if one of mine hops into a service.

Got this little guy at a small estate sale a couple months back. Paid $2.00 for it and after I got it home and researched I found it is a relatively rare lamp made by Red Wing Pottery. IMG_5177.JPG IMG_5181.JPG

More bling. The stones are unusual: blue at first look, then green. Clips! L15A.jpg

That would be right. Size 10 suits bought in the 80s fit me now like current size 8s. If I lose a few eggnog pounds, I could slither into it. The one with the cape skirt is marvelous, but I'm no Marilyn.

Thanks for the link to the dress. Now I'm watching the listings for all of these lovely dresses. Good luck with them!

I like that happy smiling cameo next to the engagement ring.

I haven't been out much, car troubles, I will explain in a bit.

I did find these Chanel turnlock clip earrings, fall 1993 collection, for $4 in a thrift shop.

    Maybe that's a 95.... can't see anymore.

This fall I found a Tasaki sterling adjustable motion ring (never heard of them until I researched the hallmark inside) for a dollar. Pretty innovative jewelry designers.

These rhodium camphor glass earrings with I think paste stones were $3 at a local antique mall. I was very surprised by eBay prices for these, I guess the earrings are uncommon.

And this dress clip is a beat up, but it was a dollar.

I haven't been around much because my 1998 Chevy Lumina was just dying on me... I was hoping to make it to March with it to say I drove it 22 years. I guess 21 and 3/4 years is good enough. I did give it to my brother who is mechanically inclined and very happy to have it for a spare car. I researched cars, and I drove a XTS Cadiallac, but I didn't like it. My next choice, staying in the GM family, was a Chevy Impala, the replacement for the Luminas. I ended up driving to Maryland to buy what I wanted. New leftover 2019 Chevy Lumina LS, the basics (I drove the Premiere and LTs, didn't like them), V6 engine.

I think these are Cuba stones, they have that bicolor effect. They are gorgeous.

I have a glass intaglio pin made from that glass - blue, green in the middle and then blue again :)

Oh, interesting. I'm thinking the glass is Czech, as they are so good at effects.

Kuba/Kreol stones? Or are they coated on the back? I've seen it done both ways.

I was shocked - shocked! - when my 30+ years GM employee dad began to buy non-GM vehicles after his retirement. His last was a Dodge Magnum.

    Hi,
I remember back in the 1950s when a WV steel company fired every employee who had a "foreign" type car in the parking lot. The steel crisis was coming to a boil. Thank goodness my uncle owned a Ford but his daughter had a Volkswagen bug(it was quickly sold) and a jeep was bought.

My father worked in auto dealerships as a mechanic for 35 years many of those years in dealerships for the big three American car manufactures. He had loyalty too in his earlier years but has sworn off anything made by GM, Ford, or Chrysler and will only consider driving Honda or Toyota now. He says the biggest piece of junk you can possibly buy is a Jeep right now with Chevy being a close second. You don't owe these companies anything -- they don't really build cars for the middle class anymore, import a significant percentage of the vehicles/parts, and hold your wallet if you want a truck -- many cost over $60k, some pushing $100k.

I used to drive all Big 3 stuff. I've had a Nissan for the last decade. It's 15 years old and just now needs some work. In any case, all of those Furrin cars are made in the USA now too, so you're employing Americans if you buy one.

I have mostly driven Chevys. My first car that belonged soley to me was a used 67 Chevy Impala I got in 1975. Somebody sideswiped me and my car didn't have a dent- theirs was totaled. Then I had an awful 1973 Ford Torino that broke down every time it rained. I then had a 1981 used Camaro Berlinetta- love the car, but it wasn't good mechanically. Then I had a 1986 Chevy Celebrity that I drove for 12 years, but since I parked next to an ocean everyday, the floorboards rusted out and my feet got wet. Still was good mechanically. Next was my 1998 Lumina.

My husband had Toyota Camrys for the last 6 years. I hated those cars. They ran okay, but there was no comfort. I have osteoarthritis, bulging and herniated discs, and other back issues, and riding in those Toyotas I felt every single bump in the road- I was like the Princess and the Pea. The V6 Impala was cheaper than the 4 cylinder Toyota Camrys and it has very good ratings. The comfort is fantastic, which I need, and it is very much like my Lumina. As for Chevrolet reliability, I can only offer up the years I got out of the 1998 Lumina, which has only 173,000 miles and my brother will continue to drive. Since 1986, I have had only two new cars, both Chevys, a good run. I hope my new car is a good car, too. :)

My girlfriend had to have a 1971 used Volkswagen bug, no talking her out of it back in the day. She had nothing but problems with it. My brother and his wife have two Cadillac Escalades, bought used, but they love them. The XTS I drove just didn't have the bells and whistles I thought it would have, and it wasn't me.
