Hi, not sure if this is the right section for this topic. If not, sorry, I'm new here. :) Anyway, I saw something interesting as I was walking out of Goodwill today - an alleged Fabergé egg for $500. Now I'm not under any delusions that this is an original Fabergé egg, but I suppose it might be possible that it's one of the recent Victor Mayer ones. If so, how can I identify it as such, and would it be worth buying at that price? This thing was quite large (about the size of an American football I suppose) and the design wasn't very complex - it was a pretty basic looking checkered translucent Ruby & glass(or diamond/crystal/or some such) shell with a small silver stand, and there didn't seem to be anything inside of it. If they only wanted $50 for it I would buy it without hesitation, but $500 would be quite an investment for me. I don't want to put that kind of cash into it only to find that it's a $20 eBay fake. To be honest the only reason I even know what a Fabergé egg is is because I watched Serial Mom back in high school LOL, so I'm completely out of my element here and any information would be appreciated. I plan to go back tomorrow to get a hands-on look at it.
