Thanks again for the replies everyone. The comment about this looking like a candy jar actually led me to this eBay auction: http://m.ebay.com/itm/221698265700?_mwBanner=1

Not sure if that's a legit Fabergé item or not, but it looks like the item at my Goodwill is a fairly poor knockoff of this design (though it could just be a difference in lighting/angles of the photographs). Interesting!

    Aww thanks, you're sweet!

Haha yeah, I actually find a lot of really cool stuff there for awesome prices but stuff like this has definitely become more common. Usually the few high-priced items there include documentation of their value though.

The funniest thing about this is pricing it at $499.99. Not $500.

I appreciate you bringing this up. As I mentioned I don't know anything about Faberge other than the beautiful enameled eggs which are extremely valuable. It looks like there are items using the name Faberge that are recent and available.

Here is an Ebay auction that has the insert that must come with some modern pieces so now I know:).

Perhaps it's a typo with two too many 9s. ;)

    Hi,
If you notice they are using the Faberge name. The glassware is from skilled European glassmakers. Could be Polish or whatever. Never said they were Russian.
I think they are just peddling the old Faberge name.

    Greg,

A homage to Faberge so to speak.

    The
Says in the middle "The Faberge Atelier Crystal Collectiom is based on the work of Peter Carl Faberge and his workmasters."

Also note the one at Goodwill is damaged. It is missing the top finial.

The one you show on Ebay, none of the pictures show the signature. Unless I missed it.

There are several clues in the wording of the document..."based on the work of" and "inspired by" and "skilled European glassblowers" can be translated as "not by that Faberge" and "not from Russia."

Reminds me of some of the wood-carvers/importers in the Northwest. You have to translate "genuine aboriginal mask" and "inspired by the tutelage of Bill Reid" as meaning "I never claimed it was native-made but I saw a picture of Bill Reid once."

Wikipedia has an article about the sale and resale of the Faberge name, but doesn't mention the "atelier" or indicate whether it has any actual right to the use of the Faberge name. Includes the long history of lawsuits regarding unauthorized "Faberge" items, including the 1945 suit over unauthorized perfumes; and the 2013 sale of Faberge Limited for $90 million.
Of the original 54 Imperial Easter eggs, 42 survive, though the location of some of them is not known; one resurfaced in 2014 in the hands of a scrap dealer who bought it at a jumble sale for $14,000, having overestimated the melt value.....it is estimated to be worth around $33 million.

(Tell them it's missing a finial, offer them 200!) :)
    Asking $1250
I'm just horsing around, no point in buying, if it's not perfect. :(
