Featured English ironstone? small sauce/gravy tureen

    I have one about the same size without the cover. I've used it for cranberry sauce at Thanksgiving. It has an attached underplate.

    This is one of our favorite things to say at the auction on Friday nights. We get stuff that could have multiple uses or that no one knows exactly what the original use was, so we tell them once you buy the item it is yours to do with it whatever you please.

    Also could be a covered vegetable tureen for peas (English peas and mash) or other small vegetables. The ladle hole would also make sense for that purpose too.

    Nah. Far too small for veggies back then.
