    lloyd249 it's not hoarding if it's valuable

maybe clay with a heavy white glaze to appear as porcelain

    I agree.
I'm sorry to say I am not at all impressed by the quality. Sloppy work all over.

Porcelain isn't always translucent. Here is another quote:
"Porcelain, vitrified pottery with a white, fine-grained body that is usually translucent"
    https://www.britannica.com/art/porcelain

    "Usually", not always.;)

if it is porcelain then ya it is very poor quality porcelain, the worst i have ever seen and a terrible glazing job. not really sure why someone would glaze porcelain tho.

Most porcelain is glazed, even simple everyday porcelain plates.
Unglazed porcelain is called biscuit porcelain.

I think you are thrown by the sloppy and thick glaze application here and there, the drips etc, so I can see your point about not usually seeing porcelain "glazed" as such.
Truth is, these are mass-produced at a very low price point and worn spray nozzles or lazy operators combined with rushed production can lead to uneven results. The pic of the base gives you a good clue as to quality control level employed in making these vases.

In southern Louisiana, unglazed porcelain is called bisque, same as unglazed ceramic clay. Glazing keeps it from absorbing liquids / oils, makes it a bit stronger as it is refired, such as for the interior of a vase. I do think these are made in China.

The bottoms are messy from being fired in a dirty kiln, the bits are from previous firings. No doubt made for importation to the U.S.
