Chortling all the way home sapphiret, is more like. Rock crystal tends to follow me home and not want to leave. Custard glass too - something else a lot of dealers miss.

One of my "Ruth Rules" is to buy jewelry from the toy dealer and toys from the jewelry dealer. Buy your costume from a precious metal dealer and silver from the costume specialist. You're dealing with someone reputable, and odds are they don't want it around.

 

Don't underestimate dumb luck, I've gotten some of my best finds that way

When i lived in Manhattan I would go to the East side to buy brass lamps in the crystal stores and crystal lamps in the big brass stores. Got the best deals that way.
The same with the jewelry area look for gold in the silver stores and silver in the gold stores. God does that bring back a lot of memories.

I wish we had stores that specialized here, but no one can make a living that way any more. Of course with cheapskates like me....
