Ooh, Richard, no need to be sorry!:)
I didn't search a lot for them, but I knew mine weren't real netzuke, mainly because of the holes.
I enjoy them and cherished memories going with:joyful:
Looking forward to see your pics:)

I have many more which I can share if people are interested and by the way what a brilliant idea to have a Netsuke section. Maybe it could be expanded to include all things Japanese. ?

I have been lobbying for an Asian antiques forum in Antiquers for a while now, to no avail. There always seem to be the kind of objections which you could have against any of the existing forums. Some even fear Antiquers will split up if you have an Asian antiques forum. Why?
It is a big chunk of the arts and antiques world, smaller areas of interest do have their own forum here, so why not us? I have to 'pluck' Asian items from just about all of the other forums, even imperial style Chinese carvings from the tribal arts forum.
I am not asking for a keris forum, fan forum, or anything 'niche' like that, just a general Asian antiques forum.

By the way, Chris Mount started a Japanese thread some time back. To be posted in by anyone, at any time. It was mostly recent stuff.

I would love to see more:)
I agree, a general Asian section would work great here:)
I'll have to see if I can find the thread that was started about this, maybe we can change the opinion this time:)

I do have an ivory okimono purchased at a garage sale. It's in rough shape. The seller said it had been used as a prop in flower arrangements. It had been tossed in a box with a bunch of plastic trinkets. 4" high, unsigned.

    Hi,
As AJ has explained about the Asian forum I agree to a point. If everyone wanted a separate forum it would be a divided forum. I am against making everything separate. With everything mingled together we get to see other things than what we normally see. I joined this forum called the ANTIQUES,
most of the things we see here is not ANTIQUE but we accept them just to see new things and help "newbies" I am sorry but if this forum starts to be
divided I am not going to be happy as I am now. The more we start to separate the more distant we become. This has been attempted many times in the old eBay forum and this one. I am glad they were all turned down. I love the people here and I am glad we are growing but when we start to divide I have to draw the line.

greg it would be adding a new category, not dividing anything. This forum would still chug along like it does, with a new addition being the only change:)

Exactly, cx. It is just like pottery, glass and porcelain, tribal art, books, etc. It is not a divided forum now, why would it become divided if we add Asian to the list?
And why tribal, and not Asian? There is more Asian art than tribal art.
By the way, why is it called tribal and not ethnographic? That would embrace more related styles.

Members are reminded that this is a Private site owned and financed by Peter for the benefit of us who wish to be included.
He also owns CoinTalk, a site for stamp collectors and one for baseball card collectors.

Peter is a Web 2.0 entrepreneur, online community builder, a website developer, and a writer.

I don`t think he earns a great deal from having this site up, probably just enough from advertising to keep it going.

    What he says goes.

He could quite easily shut this site down without warning.

It has worked quite well up to now,if it doesn`t suit your requirements, go somewhere else or start your own website.
    Please don`t rock the boat.

Sorry davey, I wasn't aware I was rocking a boat, and certainly didn't mean to.
I am very grateful to Peter, but thought I raised a fair issue, since I'm not the only one in favour of it. Well, you know the rest of my arguments, no need for me to go on about it.
I am also sorry that it led to a conflict between members in a separate thread, that was not my intention of course.
