I think it's repro. I've several of these which I use as garden ornaments. All were bought in Spain over the last couple of decades. I do rather like them.

Several of these? Can we see what they look like?

You could argue that the ancient Romans had concrete, but I doubt that's the path to still troubled waters.

    Don't do that.

I can argue all day but Ebay won't side with me.
Like, how the buyer figured it was concrete when the whole piece is covered with whatever it is. I can ask him to get a written expertise to prove the this is not Ancient, not Roman and not clay, like he claims.
But maybe he is right. What bugs me is when the sale is final and the buyers want to return. That is the risk with final sales. If you are not sure, dont buy. Or ask questions, or extra pictures etc.
    Anyway, I agreed on return.

Not sure of the law over there. Here there isnt a "final sale", buyer can return as a change of mind/buyer remorse and that happens quite often, especially with fashion/clothing items, though very infrequently with antiques and collectables. If a buyer buys an antique on basis of photos and description, and when he gets it he thinks its a fake or the description was misleading, Ebay will usually side with the buyer as the onus of proof is on the seller. The buyer will claim item not as described and get the seller to pay return postage costs. Expensive if its an international sale!

Here you go. The little one was bought in Spain about five years back, the bigger one over here. And just for fun, a rather nice genuinely mediaeval tile I keep with them in the garden!

Here's a place that makes the stuff and ages it for an extra fee. I had no idea anyone was reproducing these, but think about it, what isn't reproduced now?
