Thank you for the tip, Any, tomorrow I will do the test and will post the results. Isn't it dangerous, though, that the lemon juice can destroy the surface of the coral? It is acid on carbonate. If so, maybe it is better not to risk the beauty of this coral.

I also think the silver looks fine as it is, and even the black "stuff" looks appropriate so I will not try anything on it. You are very right that this kind of jewellery should not be shiny. Patina is nice, and I don't like shiny jewellery anyway.

Now I can wear Med coral necklace and ring. How nice! Thanks again for everything!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Did you do the test? It sounds like you were a little concerned about possibly damaging the necklace.

Oh, sorry, Fig, for my late answer, I did not visit the forum for a while, too much work before taking leave.
No, I haven't done the test yet, I am afraid that the coral could be damaged. Decided that it is not so important if it is coated, and that I like it too much to risk ruining it.

Thanks for your reply... I hope you got everything completed before going on leave.

Don't worry, it won't ruin it. It is just one more step to ascertain whether the stone is coral or not. But it is up to you, of course.:)

    Have a nice holiday!

Thank you, Fig. Yes, I managed in the office, now there are a couple of private matters to solve, one of them is our inherited house in the village, some work is needed there, we will see how to cope.

Thank you, Any! :kiss:My only concern was potential damage. So if it is safe, I will make the test and will post here the result.
It will not be a normal leave but time for settling some private matters as I mentioned above. But it should be done, the house badly needs attention.
So I hope to be able to visit here from time to time.

I just made the test and it passed. In order to be sure, as a control piece I tested a Med coral bead (it was posted here before and Any certified it), and the ring cab gave similar reaction - both had tiny bubbles and some fuzzing when lemon juice was applied.

Thank you, Fig! It turned out that the people we hired to clean the yard, are busy, so we are just sitting and waiting for them to come and start working.
And I have time for antiquers :joyful::joyful::joyful:
