As others have pointed out "Political Correctness" seems to have gotten out of hand. The side that wants it on everything seem to have become dogmatic on the issues. This has caused the ones that could care less to go out of their way to be obdurate, obstinate. I'm in a state up to its ears in controversy from the Confederate emblem on the Mississippi flag to the latest restroom controversies. To me the flag issue is a no brainer. It should be ditched for that emblem hurts many. It is like having the Nazis swastika as part of a state flag. In the same breath many are wanting to pull down statues of all Confederate generals and change the names of many parks, etc... that even suggest Southern history before or during the Civil War.

The governor should never have gotten into the bathroom issue. The legislature should have dropped that issue like a hot potato. This was not problem with probably over 80% of state, but now after all the publicity it has become a polarizing element.

BTW, men as well as women were accused of witchcraft in Salem. Contrary to public opinions none were burned at the stake in Salem: 20 were killed, 19 by hanging and 1 man was pressed to death by heavy stones when he gave no plea of innocent or guilty - 5 died in jail. I'm not sure just how many were accused of witchcraft in Salem, but if one pleaded guilty they were not executed for they now saw the error of their ways, recognized their sin!! I think about 80 were accused of witch-craft in all of New England in the mid 1600s. In Europe 100s were accused of witchcraft and burned at the stake.

--- Susan
