Cleaning a china cabinet

    A solution of Murphys would be fine as long as you do not get it too wet. A damp cloth should do the trick but dust first. Oterwise, mineral spirits will cut any greasy deposits or old wax. Once clean, touch up any imperfections with stain or Howard's resor-a-finish. A coat of paste wax afterwards will protect it further.

    The drips look like the top may have been recoated at some point. You might try just flaking them off with a fingernail or plasctic knife first. You might be able to some good with lacquer thinner and a q-tip carefully. Otherwise, they would need to be stripped off. Unfortunately, this would also affect the original finish underneath.

    That is disheartening to say the least. I will tell my mom and thank you for your information and expertise. Here is what it looks like when it is fully loaded. I had to remove the stuff before I moved it into my mom bedroom. Took a picture so that I knew where the things go back into the china cabinet. Rob
