Yes, probably the luck of the draw.
Unfortunately, many women have had similar experiences, myself included. Pretty sure quite a few of our female members can relate, maybe some of the men too.
That is not to belittle what you've been through, on the contrary. It is an illustration of the predators that are out there.

I don't want to scare you either, I just hope you get the right kind of support. You shouldn't have to cope with this on your own.
Do you have therapy, maybe EMDR? That helps most people with PTSD.

That is what I thought. Having my cat cuddle me during this period of my life (my husband passed away this year) has been close to life saving.

Exactly, Kitty needs to feel safe.
    Besides, I think a talent for writing isn't country-specific.;)

I have found that toothpaste can be useful for cleaning jewellery that should not be soaked. I rub it in with a fingertip, use a soft toothbrush carefully if there are crevices. Holding it face down by the water faucet, I get the toothpaste off again by lightly splashing water from below with my fingers & wiping away. It's not the solution for all jewels, but works for some.

I live in a lower income neighborhood of a very large city & feel free, for the most part, to wear any jewellery I wish. I assume that others will assume that if it looks like a lot of gold it is probably fake, gold filled at best.

The need for a cat is a vacuum nature is eager to fill.

I wear jewelry at home, when I'm by myself, just for me as well. That's why you bought it! I also have pieces I'm unlikely to wear, but I enjoy looking at. That's fine too.

People with security get robbed too because everyone knows they have expensive items. Like Bronwen I find most people think antique jewelry looks different and think it's costume so not worth much anyway where I live. Muggings happen in any city. In mine the few targets tend to be students at the local expensive school, and it's always their iPhones.

I don't post photos of my face ever, from being harassed and stalked, so I understand. I like my privacy. Using a different username than you do for other accounts, and not posting photos of your face/home/identifing details should help.
