I do agree as in Chinese antique too often 123%:hilarious: of what’s sold online is fairly new if not even 21st c and just about every feature used to determine authenticity can be mimicked these day. Experts holding in hand can often mistake as well.

I post here and a few FB groups to get multiple opinions that gives me perspectives and terminology to dig deeper than I normally could. I always appreciate negatives and positives equally. Never challenge opinions you ask for.

In the case of this vase I have obtained a lot from my online families and that’s a beautiful thing, thanks to all everywhere. As for the age of this item I hold no high hope as of yet but feel very strongly of its quality and having still hope for some age. I have done well in selling some semi high ticket items and the research is the most enjoyable every time.

I like the way you've considered the aspects about it

And congrats on a nice piece

It's by no means an obvious repro

I think most of us here are on the fence a bit

There's things I like about it and things I don't

I don't think you'd see that kind of crackle on a very old piece
Also something about the poorly formed handles and paleness of the base rim I don't like for old old

Hope it turns out a goodun though

@charlie cheswick, And here in lies the beauty of different views

I personally do not like the crackle when I see it absolutely everywhere, even on the inside lip. Not seeing either here, but again there is so much to know. Thanks for looking.

I looked again the ears on the vase look decent dirt of age, the vase isn't to shiny shiny never good has a dull shine to it. The inside seems to have hairline crack. Looks good to me & again not my type of period to know. Combs is good I just used him on my recent jar. Can't go wrong with 15$.

    Thank you, *thumbs up*

I just have one final observation I just notices today. The dragon ears have a tiny hole under them and I know this is to keep them from popping during the firering. Is this still necessary in today's process?

I showed someone that's good in this period he said is new with no explanation. I didn't want to ver you off saying is real but I can tell you from my opinion take it to combs he'll say 100%. Yes they did create holes for doesn't burst in the kiln. Let us know what he says if you decide.
