What do you mean by polished?

All patina removed so surface looks like gold. Most collectors of bronze antiques consider an original patina to be a major portion of the value of an object.

I don't known I am right but I think this is not patina but a finish. At least, from what I saw online, some of the censers with brownish surface are described as having a coat.

    Age and patina are interesting......

As much as I frown on eBlech.....from what you say the guy who's pushing you sounds like he knows something you don't , but an offer to buy outside of the eBay site is against policy and would leave you with no protection should something go wrong or should he be a scammer looking to take this off your hands.
Yes...letting the auction run it's course.....seems the best thing you could do now...or pull the auction and do more research to get a better handle on what the hell this thing actually is !

Christies is not interested. I start questioning their experts and knowledge. Seems like if something is not properly marked, have imperial seals or have a provenance , they just skip it.

Just got a mail from Bonhams that they want to take a look but it's too late now. The pusher offered $6k but I can't end the auction now.
Whatever it sells for I hope the buyer will be serious, pay on time and play no games with refunds.

I don't know the circumstances of the appraisal shown in the video but it almost struck me as a "setup" gone wrong. It looks like it was done on some kind of free appraisal day at Bonham's. I felt the appraiser was credible and the "customer" was not. He couldn't pronounce Bonham's correctly and referred to corrosion on a piece of pottery. The appraiser kept his cool and left after enduring enough of the pushy actor's bs. Did I read it correctly? I kept expecting the bad actor to say something like "Well FYI I'm Siegfried Dumpinpantz, famed ceramics expert, and you've just identified a priceless ancient tomb artifact as a modern object!" But that didn't occur, so where does that leave us?

Not an actor. The dude has a website where you can see the Chinese pieces he has for sale. There you can read a bunch of emails he sent to the three big auction houses about his Ru ceramics. Seems like nobody is interested in them. But he is possitive that they are authentic.
I don't know who is right. If they are real, we are talking about millions.
As to the video, don't know how credible the appraiser is. I did not hear a single argument why the pieces are not authentic.

You can get a more complete picture of the white-haired guy by looking at the comments on this video on YT, here when u hit their logo.

Most of the comments are his. Although he's an American his English shows lack of education, so I don't find it odd that the world of "high end" antiques would disregard him. He seems a bit obsessive and very self-righteous. Sounds almost like he was duped into spending his life-savings on that Ru stuff which turned out to be worthless, but he refuses to admit it and thinks he will make it authentic by talking it up all over. ??????

I'd like to hear from the expert why they are not authentic. Like wrong shape, color of glaze, density of the paste, foot rim, spur marks, crackles, rust spots etc.

I posted a link here a few mos. ago to videos made by an expert who has a successful Asian ceramics biz. He does that kind of thing with many pieces, in a number of videos. If u r going to be in that biz I'm sure it would pay to watch them.

Here's one of Mr. Combs' videos. He mentions a lot of subtle traits like everyone should catch his points, but maybe someone will come up with some more basic guidance. Combs is talking to folks who have a fair amount of knowledge already.

It reminds me of Pawn Stars...when the folks want a ton of cash for their items and Rick says no....and tells them why.....but upon being interviewed as they leave they brush off his comments saying they know better and they'll find some one else to give them what THEY THINK the items worth.

    Hearty CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Your winner was certainly not taking any chances on losing that. Do you know if it was one of the original direct offer buyers?

BTW, is it your turn to buy lunch?

    Thanks.
The same buyer with the offers won the auction. Let's see if we'll finalize the deal soon. He wants to talk on the phone about the payment and shippment. Hope there won't be any scams. Has a good recent feedback but you never know.
He asks if we communicate in Chinese. I guess not.
