Cast iron fireplace

I never did see the original photo when I first clicked on the link.........just the similar from daveydempsey.............

 

Aquitaine It was almost identical pic as far as design or the FP. Main difference is that the original showed pieces of torn, obviously in process of being removed, carpeting. Plus walls that needed sanding, priming, painting.

 

Yes, a lot of fireplaces set in the wall don't do much unless they are very large in size or have a fan. What I was alluding to was slow combustion stove/fireplaces that have several sides to radiate heat, they are fantastic at heating up a room. What I would do, is keep the mantle and original feature as a highlight but add a small slow combustion in it. Yeah, I have stayed in a few cabins that have small stoves and they are so cosy and hot!
