I should also add that the flag may be incorrect and either fit the ship or was added at a later date. It may not even be an American ship

An unidentified, undocumented floosy, on the loose, with no papers!

I know of that one and I believe the subject one is USS HORNET #1. The two USS HORNETS that followed, both 1805, would not have looked like this one and if I am correct then her flag is correct as well.

I've changed my mind. She may be the USS Hannah though even this is uncertain. USS HANNAH was US Navy ship #1.

    Her fate is unknown. :(

The vessel is actually not a ship but a brig. Flush decked with a gaff mizzen abaft the mainmast. The model is tidy but a bit scetchy on the rigging detail, which is understandable, but would keep it in the lower reaches of model ship prices.

I think it is fairly modern. The anchor is oversized and would in no cirumstances be hanging where it is with any sail unfurled. It would bash in the bow in any sort of a swell.

I agree the anchor is not pulled up and back where it should be for whatever reason though she is still a ship or vessel. A brig is her type.
