The pictures aren't in the right angle for IDing this lamp. It certainly would help if you could post a picture of the lamp straighten on at eye level and not looking down or looking up at it. I need to see that font straight on. My first impression is that the pattern is "Frosted with "Clear Bar." Then again those bars may be a zipper pattern. A straight on pic of an oil lamp should have the burner removed so that the collar can be seen. Usually the collar is a good determination of timeframe for an oil lamp. Connectors and collars are less likely to have been replaced while burners were more likely replaced. I am including a pic of my "Frosted with Clear Bar" font. Note it has the same wide brass shoulder collar. Sorry, it hasn't been cleaned up.

The base is a stepped hexagon iron base. Iron bases date usually from 1865-1880s. Per Thuro's Oil Lamps, The Kerosene Era in North America, p. 170, today "iron-base lamps are not as popular as opaque glass-base or marble-base lamps .... [because] they are frequently rusty and in need of cleaning. The original finish on these bases was black, or a metallic gold, copper or bronze finish."

Thuro's OL, in the "Iron Stem-Base" section, p. 172, has pictured 3 "Frosted with Clear Bar" font lamps with iron stem-bases. None of the bases is exactly like yours. Each of the "Frosted with Clear Bar" fonts are a different shape. One is sort of an onion shape, another pumpkin shape and the other shaped like your font with the wide brass shoulder collar.

--- Susan
