The whole thing makes little sense in the handful of traditions where I have some knowledge. I've never seen a swing associated so strongly with any other couple. I'm thinking it could be like the way Renaissance painters put the Virgin Mary in clothes of their own time/place. Maybe some SE Asian variant, & quite modern, on the Indian imagery?

That is what I think, or rather East Asian. I think it could be Chinese made, for the Indian market. Or maybe parts were commissioned in China. The carving on the coral looks Chinese to me, although not traditional Chinese.

I had the same thought. When you search eBay for 'coral cameo', a lot of Chinese carved coral shows up.

Yes it looks like two symbols, almost like a horseshoe.

I agree that if it was an indian deity the woman would not be depicted as naked. Thank you for your info. Definitely interesting! If you see anything in the future let me know. I will for sure continue the search.

I was thinking the same thing because I've had coral asian statues in the past. But to me it looks Indo Asian mixed with Chinese Asian . Who ever made this did a great job! It's a masterpiece for sure.

I agree! A modern twist of something old. If one piece was made then maybe more were made? I hope so.

In that case I think we have reached a consensus.:)
    (Until we find out otherwise.)
Maybe you should hope not. A unique piece usually has more value.;) It is well made, with beautiful materials, a real conversation piece.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

It is beautiful. I'm not knowledgeable about this, but wonder whether you can get a closer photo of the symbols? Maybe somebody else will have an idea about the origin from that.

If it were made for the UAE market, it's feasible carved jade was imported.
