Featured Can anyone help me with this very old Sampler, and it age?

I have to say, most everything I removed from this house was meticulously cared for. The woman was brilliant. I'm so not worthy..

 

maybe cared for the best she could with what was available at the time...

 

The backing on this frame is definitely NOT acid-free material. She may have been brilliant about caring for many items, but this is not a great example of such a level of care.

As for auction - on eBay or Etsy? Do a search for sold samplers of the 1800's and see what the ones that sold look like - complexity of composition, completeness, dates, etc. Without a family connection, I can't see this very simple, undated and incomplete one selling for much (if at all.)

 

I concur ....I've held my tongue till now because unless one can at least prove a family connection.....or find proof that the sisters were 3 & 4 years old....this is just a family heirloom & would proove of no great value to anyone else.

 

Agreed. All that considered, I decided to hang it in my sewing room.

 

Were it will stand out as a special historic item....& have a good home !!!
