I am so sorry this happened to you. I’ve been in your shoes unfortunately, many years ago. What “grew legs and walked out” was a sterling cartouche. My name is so uncommon that I had to wonder if the individual who took it needed either the income or wanted a perverse momento of me.

I have not seen one like the one in your photograph. I hope you have been able to find other pieces to help soften the blow of the loss of this one.

What a heartbreaking experience that must have been, losing your cameo & having to consider that someone was sticky fingered & the mystery of how they got their sticky fingers on it.

I have certainly seen cameos that were similar over the years, but I've looked at probably tens of thousands & do not remember this particular one. :(

No joy in Mudville I'm afraid. I was at a yard sale this morning, but the jewelry was physically inaccessible. (rant saved for the rant thread)

Definitely have to keep my eyes peeled for those. We've seen the Wallach link before. Hers ... let's just say I'd be safe and not wear those to church.(LOL)

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Just wanted to say that I like #1, even though it has a few small "dings" or dents in the cameo itself. I like the cameo, not necessarily the mount.

She is definitely the most attractive and skilfully done. I’m thinking she is quite elderly with that clasp but WDIK!.

I put it up again for our new cameo hound, PepperAnna.

Really wish I could handle it, hear how it sounds when tapped with a nail. Is there no sign at all of the grain lines of ivory? Is weight about right for size? Heavier? Lighter? A true mystery.

It is very like this one that the seller purports to be bone, especially the beveled edge back:

I'm also seeing similar being described as Dieppe...?

#1 could stand on her own & is the only one that qualifies as antique. 2,4 & 7 are artificial & of little value. If all the setting is in good shape, #5 might also succeed sold individually. I would not cry if #3 were removed from the mount for meltdown, but, because it is gold, might sell if priced low enough. #s 6 & 8 look in good condition but are otherwise mediocre. I'd probably put all in a lot except #s 1 & 5 & throw the 3 unmounted ones in as a bonus.

I have seen this figure repeatedly over the years. I even think I bought one early on & never received it (I have a record but not the cameo). They have all appeared to be ivory & I believe them to be Asian in origin. I would not buy one now.

I like the setting on #6, is it silver?

I like the cameo on #1 also :)

Yes, I think so. I can’t see a mark but haven’t looked closely. It’s a nice setting but I don’t love the cameo.
I agree No 1 is much nicer than the rest.
