Thank you! They're all so lovely. The floral one I think will stay with me, I can use brooches like that to pin my shawls when I go for that look.

Yes that's as far as I'd gotten, but no more. The hallmark on the pin is very confusing to me, and the italian mark website offers no insight. Thank you! <3

..but then you wouldn't have them any more.

Yup. Nothing says you couldn't use it for money though, if it's tight enough.

I searched Karo AP (the siggie) and bronze, and some medals popped up. Thought I recognized it already but wanted to be sure. I've seen that mark before on commemorative medals.

    So true :(

The plot thickens! I'll have a little search around and see what I can find, thank you! It is such a pretty thing I wouldn't mind keeping it around. What kind of pin/thing is it though?

I've found I'd less time to pick when I had a real salaried job,but more cash-in hand when I did find something really 'Juicy' !
Maybe you could borrow some money now & pay it back in the Winter when You've more time to sell ?
PS-Or find a rich Aunt to sponsor You .

No idea. Possibly it was indeed off of a wine bottle, and someone liked it enough to make a tie pin/stickpin out of it.

My attitude's always been-'I love it to death-but maybe this sale will fund a Carel Fabritius !',or some other such mad hallucination.

I do have an online business but paychecks are often inconsistent. I'm a sports commentator for a video game's competitive scene, so there's sometimes weeks where I don't have an event etc etc. Its going fairly well nonetheless, but being in the habit of spending very little and only able to make uneducated guesses is a duo that is rattling for the nerves :hilarious: Living at home blesses me with the opportunity to have more to spend, but I'd like to see some return before I end up with a hoard of jewels that no one will buy  The silver (and now 2 pieces of gold) I've found I've almost always bought though, that's an investment that won't crumble.

100%! One of those pieces could possibly go for over 200e, which would be a lovely return on the 3 euros purchase price. I may have to say goodbye so I can get the next bit of beauty when it comes!

I am not familiar with an Italian mark website that is offering you no insight. Here's one that should be easy to understand

With your great eye something will show-up.Yes-the pieces I've found for a few bucks that are worth hundreds (in a few cases thousands),are especially tuff to sell cause they're really memorable trophies-a souvenir of when 'lightning struck !'.
But for me,the true joy's in the game & the rush is in 'The Hunt' & research.
    A few pieces,valuable & not-we've kept for decades-they're just right,literally perfect for us anyway.

That French spelling of Czechoslovakia is typical of twenties and early thirties stuff, including glass.

    Nice find on the Carven.

When someone finds out, please tell me. Heat and humidty are going to have to stop me from going out at times, since those and MS no longer mix. With a vengeance. Definitely keep buying the precious metals if you're getting them at or under melt.

    kyratango Bug jewellery addiction!

The stork is regional jewellery, east of France, not only Alsace but Nancy too, a well established Nancy jewellery, Kauffer, made many, though higher quality chased and engraved silver. Beginning of 20th century traditional but not in Art Nouveau syle:)

When You're born a 'Collector',it's like being born a Magpie or Crow-you're drawn to shiny things.
You can discipline your picking days-certain times & a budget, but why euthanize that passion ?

Evely-Sad to hear abt yr MS.I know some of our really stellar members are housebound at times, but do manage to tweeze out some underpriced things in online auctions.
PS-Rachel,what Eve said abt precious metals is resale gospel. There'll still be 'scrappers' after The Apocalypse.

Oh no I did use that website, I meant a website that was a directory of the mark registery numbers, ie maker etc, to see if I could find out more. But there was no luck, they only list active makers.

Ah hah! I was right then, always nice when that happens. Thank you for the confirmation!

:hilarious: Perhaps I did that on purpose

Honestly I think I'm quite the same! Its the hunt, the research, the finding of unexpected marks. That's the fun bit, and a way to hold onto and learn about the too fleeting past. Plus the feeling of a nice find/sell isn't unpleasant by any means! I look forward to adding to my personal collection at the same time.

I am sorry to hear your health keeps you from going out and about, I've known a few people who are similarly affected by the weather/heat and its not fun.

At the moment I'm spending no more than 2 euros for any one piece of precious metal. At my last count a few weeks ago I'd spent about 30e for 100g of silver total, and the collection has grown since then! All in jewelry, so its nice and wearable until I decide to move it on!

Thank you very much Kyra! Good to know :D

True true! At the moment its Sundays, and a rough budget of 3 euros per item. Exorbanant I know :hilarious: I think I'll need a few more months of research before I delve into the dodgy world of online sales, much harder to ascertain the item!
