    Parrot gun rifle from civil war and could fire from 10 to several hundred pound projectiles.
    Just wondering if the item original posted was revised in later years for another purpose. It seems that the bottom brass base at 2.5 in would be to wide for cane...but...original poster said it did screw off..so ? original on cane and later re-purposed

    Yes the large base looks to have been made separately from the cheroot cannon, note different color patina. Interesting that the cannon appears to have a rifled barrel, leads me to think it was made to shoot, if only on occasion. Rifling the barrel seems way too much trouble to go to for an appearance-only item. After the wood cane disintegrated someone thought to remount the cannon for desk display.

    My iron weighs about two pounds. Is that a 2 iron?
    Does the board's weight count in that calculation?
