I don't know if you noticed. But on all the other vases shown, the birds are swallows with the definite V shaped tails. The birds on my vase ( and I believe them to be swallows too) have closed tails and not the open V like the other vases,

You're welcome - glad to help. Am I nuts, or does the one I linked have its etched mark on the inside? I suppose that makes sense if there is an iridescent coating on the outside.[IMG]

I think that picture is looking down inside the vase. That's why the mark is showing backwards. I don't think there is a picture of the bottom of the vase from the outside.

IMHO, the one posted here lacks detail that the one on Pinterest and the one posted by Uncle Chuck have. The feathers are rendered more lifelike in the beige one. The body of the swallow, especially the one near the mouth of the vase on the blue one has no detail compared to the other one. I would guess that the blue one is newer than the beige one.

I went ahead and sent a picture of this to Rago auctions and got a 2 word response!
Fake Lalique! go figure. Now we know! I would think if you were faking Lalique you would want to sign it Lalique.

I found this one that is different but similar, described as "Modern Art Deco Crystal Opaque Round Vase Crafted from 24% lead crystal and hand finished in Prague, this vase is very striking, with it unusual swallow design, being inspired by great glassmakers of the Art Deco period such as Lalique. The colour, design and sensuous shape makes this piece quite unique and as the only UK distributor we feel sure that you will not have seen coloured lead crystal quite like this before. "

That's interesting and makes sense. I would think if you were trying to pass something off as Lalique you would sign it. This isn't signed at all, Just "in the style of"

    Hi Aquitaine,
I sent several photos of a FRENCH cicada vase signed Sicard. I got back a long letter telling me it was a Weller Sicard vase done here and worth about 200 dollars not enough for them to sell it.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. This was signed by the "leading lady" of Antique Roadshow. Shows how dumb she was back then.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:. Several later requests were answered quite well and i was happy with them. They sold several items for me at really nice prices. I am happy with them.

Just to update this old thread. I put this vase in auction last month and it brought $112.50. I'm satisfied. Hated to sell it, but it was stuck away where I couldn't enjoy it. so I let it go.
