    We've all heard "Ugly sells"!

I think the sleeping one is rather cute. Now the other one, started out maybe not so cute and with the damage......:inpain:

I've sold a couple dolls or doll heads that were just creepy, probably mostly from damage and age. I called them creepy and they sold, not for much money, but sold. It was no lie, my kids were creeped out.

I guess there's a community of folks who collect Goth & grotesque dolls.I guess Pierre Jumeau would be rolling in his grave. Jumeau Advert.jpg

    Behold!
Miss Havisham's Bridesmaid aka Mummified Child Corpse.

I sold this ... thing many years ago, in its original box which, co-incidentally,
( or not) was actually almost coffin shaped.

Its eyes opened ... and ... and quelle horreur!... it spoke, plaintively mewing ... Mumma :O

    I'm not your Mumma!

We were so sure that it walked at night my kids wouldn't allow me to bring it into the house.
Thankfully, someone ( NOT ME) saw beauty in her and paid me quite nicely and I'm glad she went to someone who appreciated her. As that was never going to happen here. I sell dollies often and have seen some sights. This was one of the most unnerving though.

    OOO Bou, that is creepy!

I wondered if I still had photos of some of my creepy ones. I did find this one. I'm sure it was sweet at some point but not so much at this point. Not the creepiest but not cuddly either!

Pressed brass with seam across head and peeling paint.

SIS-'Pressed brass with seam across head...'. Were brass-headed dolls common in the old days ?

This this is almost artistic...it's not too bad at all (but don't want to come across anywhere it shouldn't be ) xx

I have no idea really. I know there were metal head dolls but that's about all I know.

I found it at a thrift shop in a tiny town in Idaho. All the damage and wear seemed legitimately old.

I kind of loved it but it was the eyes as I recall. Haunting!

It's kind of a work of art, what today we'd call 'Outsider Art'.You don't supposed it contained an entity that could've told you where more treasure was ?

I don't understand, Bosko. Why would you call those 2 dolls "outsider art?"
