This is going to sound odd but smell it and tell me what the wood smells like.

Nothing odd to it for me!
I collect militaria as well, and could tell you by the smell the nationality of a uniform. Even blind folded.
But I am unable to bring under words how a African mask or a German uniform smells like.......
    cheers

I collect African items mainly masks. I had a old timer teach me the trick of smelling the mask and if it has been used what to smell for. I have mask all over my living room and I burn candles use air fresner etc and after many years they still smell the same even though they came from different tribes.

JMO by looking at it and what you said it wasnt used
