The pink in that biscuit jar does not look like a French pink..(To me.) More like German, Bavarian, etc.

That "star" looks exactly like the Spritz cookies my mother used to make at Christmas.

Wait, it is 5 1/2 " tall from bottom to top of gold lip. Did not measure in lid. Checking again on the width I took the circumference measurement. It is a over 18 inches making it a little over 6 inches in diameter.

A little under 6, but let's don't quibble. I was confused since it's obviously taller than it is wide with the lid on.

The star mark does show in Gaston's RS Prussia book but with an "origin undetermined" designation. Gaston is careful to note that RS identifications cannot be made solely through mold marks. In other words, some RS Prussia pieces might have star marks but all pieces with star marks are not RS Prussia.

Your jar does have many characteristics of an early RS Prussia piece. Sometimes I can identify RS through the finials but the finial on your piece appears broken. Personally, I think yours is probably RS but I'd have to do a lot more research before I would feel 100% comfortable saying it is RS.

The worthpoint jar definitely looks RS. Remember that finial. The one on the ebay link I couldn't quite see the mold detail clearly enough (I need new glasses). I do think I saw subtle differences in the molds between the original jar posted and the ebay jar. One looked like a flower mold around the top of the base and other looked more like a shell. And the worthpoint jar has a still different mold. Not that that is necessarily worrisome. RS made a lot of mold variations.

Oh, it's helpful. :) Everything you find is if only because it shows other possibilities. I think there might be a finial repair on this one (gold doesn't match) and there is some wear to the gold leaves. Unusual decoration though. It's a shame their flash makes it impossible to see the star.

It sold cheap - maybe because the finial looked suspicious to other folks. The collapse in RS prices didn't help and these older pieces seem especially out of fashion at the moment. And there's no guarantee it is RS. I'd need to page through my books for a long time to confirm or deny and even then it could be a mold not pictured.
