I have two of them. Mine are appr. 8 and one half inches high to the peak in the front [one of which is broken]. I think they must be Czech because one of them has some kind of red mark on the bottom--or what's left of one.

Yes, mine is long since sold but I remember it well!

Wondering if with a new member what happens is that while researching their own item, they see a match on google images, click on it, it brings up the Antiquers post, and then they see instructions on how to join Antiquers, and finally, they respond to the post that brought them there, which in this case was two years old.

Not sure if that makes any sense, just a guess!

Good guess.....as newer members have no idea where...or even if...they should look to see how old a thread is !

Welcome Lubana:) Your vases are beautiful! They look like they could be Czech.

Yes, welcome! And those dragons on the sides are dead ringers for the one I had. Seeing those I'm having a bit of seller's remorse, but you can't keep everything.

    Very pretty.

Yes, I was researching my pieces and did realize the thread was old--but thought I should add examples to this rather rare genre of pottery--unless perhaps it's common in Czechoslovakia :) I have a feeling I won't be the last to research similar vases.

Thank you, cxgirl. I've kind of got a maroon and gold theme going on one shelf so it fits in just great. I always wanted a "dragon" handled vase and was so glad to finally get one. I never spent any time researching it - I just assumed it was Austrian or German. Now I'm wondering if there is a mirror image vase out there!

Like the one in CX's Pinterest link, maybe? What a gorgeous vase, Don.

The one in the link (which sold for $350) as well as Don's, are of a much higher quality than the one I started this post with. If memory serves I had mine at a BIN for a month with no takers at $75, and finally accepted a best offer of $45-50. It was a great vase, but that's what the market was. This was two years ago.

I'm glad you bumped the thread. I saw something similar recently, and had forgotten about lucille's piece. Thanks for showing us your examples, and welcome.

I love the dark red glaze on Don's.

    Hi,
In general, the Art Nouveau era was prominent between 1890 and 1914.
Czechoslovakia was recognized as a sovereign state in 1918.
Is it possible that your vases are Austrian?
Regardless of provenance, the vases are lovely, unique and, taking into consideration that they are, at least, 100 years old, in fine condition.
I love the Sea Serpent handles. Without such interesting handles, the vases would be rather blase. IMHO.
Forgive my grammatical errors; College English was years ago. LOL.

    Hi Lubana,
Could you please post a picture of the vases' bottom? It would help to see the mark (s.)
    Thanks.
