    Hi,
Definately a heron, an egret would have another curve to the neck. I watched a blue heron stab and kill my last chipmonk. I had no idea they ate rodents.

Although fish form the bulk of its diet, the Great Blue Heron will also take amphibians, invertebrates, reptiles, mammals and birds. When prey is sighted, it rapidly thrusts its neck forward to snatch the hapless quarry within its bill, and then typically swallows it whole....

Greg.....maybe your bird is a type of Great Blue ' Mac the Knife ' Heron ?? :wideyed::wideyed:

    Hi komokwa,
It was horrible to watch. I love chipmunks but to see the heron standing next to the bird feeder was strange. It stabbed the chipmunk behind the neck and in a blink of an eye it was gone.

Am I the only one who thinks this might be a newer decorator piece. Made in the art deco style?
