Pretty sure that's a heron

Definately a heron, an egret would have another curve to the neck. I watched a blue heron stab and kill my last chipmonk. I had no idea they ate rodents.

Greg.....maybe your bird is a type of Great Blue ' Mac the Knife ' Heron ??

It was horrible to watch. I love chipmunks but to see the heron standing next to the bird feeder was strange. It stabbed the chipmunk behind the neck and in a blink of an eye it was gone.
