So I test the stone and it&#039;s a polished sapphire, a 10mm x 14mm stone and the setting tests as 18kt gold.</p><p>The stone has a purple tone in sunlight but it&#039;s mainly a medium-dark blue. Lots of occlusions, sparkly flecks and variation of color.</p><p>That said, I know white gold wasn&#039;t used in jewelry until the mid 1920&#039;s.
