Anybody know about this giant mirror

I agree, I don't think it is antique but it could still be gilded.

 

Theres a lizard with a wheel behind him and a baby curled up behind him strange marks and inside mirror rim is gold but wooden rim what wood ?

 

It's looking really good! Is all of the gold part comprised of plaster?

 

Theres gold bits missing see on the wheel but msinly on the smooth surfaces the gold is coming up perfect loadsss of cream paint running off it and strange markings i think anyone know about them

 

From the new photographs, it doesn't appear to be bronze powdered paint. So it could be gold or metal leaf. Metal leaf needs to be sealed to protect it from tarnishing. Can you tell if that has been coated a lacquer or poly type product?

 

Bottom appears to be where gild starts the finish on the gold is smooth hard to say clay or not its so thin

 

Looks brushed on maybe

 

In this last photo is does look painted and it looks like a mica powder.

 

Hand painted do you think any idea gold gilted old or new maybe

 

Stopped using wipes although they seem to wash the paint off but the gold will only come off with your nail and certain parts are shiny where the border seems a darker gild

 

I tried white spirit in a small area nothing seems to lift the gold only scraping what gild is it and what should i use

 

I don't know....but I applaud your attempts to get under that white crud !!!
