    Have you treated the flowers with something to stop them deteriorating?

    I'll be honest I don't remember for sure. I think I dried them first and then I may have sprayed them with a clear acrylic. They are from 1998 and 2001 and I'm not sure they've ever been uncovered since 2001.

    Maybe because they are under glass the air isn't getting to them so it's preserving them, They look so beautiful.

    Well you know you have a problem when the auctioneer is looking right at you when pitching the usefulness of a large bookshelf, saying that it would be great for art pottery and other various collectables. Yep happened to me last weekend.

    When the local Ill Will sees me coming in the store, some of the clerks just reach for the key to the jewelry case.(LOL)

    my collection of cake stands stems from my devotion to baking. And I have a few cake domes too; it's just hard to find EAPG cake domes. The cake stands take up so much space that I couldn't possibly keep up with an accompanying dome/cloche collection. I started collecting stands as a way to present b'day cakes and soon came to focus on EAPG stands. I'm fascinated by the various combinations motifs in EAPG stands.

    Ok...... I can't 'stand' to wait any longer for the nomenclature to appear as to what in the Helsinki EAPG 'stands' for!
    :arghh::banghead:
    I'm asking what EAPG means... :)

    Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

    I think it means Early American Pattern Glass... or something similar. Obviously I'm not a collector of it, as you can tell by the hesitation.

    I think it's Early American Pressed Glass. I have a few pieces I've inherited, but don't have room for another collection. I did have a Victorian cake stand that belonged to my great-grandmother, but my sister has it now. It's not coming back, thank goodness. My niece is the only grandkid and she's going to bag the lot eventually, so it might as well be in her house and out of my hair.(LOL)

    EAPG = Early American Pattern Glass c1850-1920 + or -
    pattern rather than pressed, as technically EAPG is part of a set or pattern with multiple forms (plate, bowl, tumbler, etc.). So, technically if it is a one-off piece and not part of a pattern it could be called EAPG era.

    how about a general thread called 'Food Porn'? Back before eBay began decimating the board there was a fairly active 'Cook's Nook' board with a 'Food Porn' thread where folks would post food pics; could be restaurant or home made.

    So...of course...this coincidentally this happens with this discussion in process.
    Some of you may recall that I'm working on a house with many issues. The neighbor was moving and told me to raid her veggie garden. Wellllll... Besides the string peas and sunflowers there were lots of tomatoes. Some were happy to see me. Here's just one >>>
