Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I mostly collect antique photographs but have picked up small numbers of lots of other things. And the scope of the photo collections has expanded, too. Used to be mostly just photos of people wearing costumes, but now it's any image that I think it interesting. That's a lot!

I prefer to think that I am boldly going where no hoarder - i mean collector - has ever gone before,
So far there's still room in the bathtub.

I keep getting told I need to get rid of some stuff. And I do ... but keep bringing home OTHER stuff.

Went to THREE estate sales this morning. I must be learning something, because I only bought things at one of them. Spent $22 all morning.

    Totally right.

We buy anything that looks interesting (and portable!) So that we can learn by researching items new to us.

We make lots of mistakes as well!

One of the things I love is Victorian glass domes, Putting something under a dome makes it look immediately more interesting.....Domes are another thing I got into collecting.

    Bought another today :)

There's lots of them around here at centres and fairs, All sizes, Some have flowers under them (Victorian flowers) Some have clocks, French wedding domes are nice, I have one that still has its basket of Victorian wax fruit under it and some have lost there original contents.

I bought one years ago for my great-grandfather's pocket watch. Keeps it safe & clean, and it looks pretty cool, too!

I just love them, Its amazing how many are still around, The really small ones are very hard to find here though.

I'll snap some over the weekend :)

I can't afford the ones with clocks under them though, They usually have beautiful bases too especially the French ones.

This thread just goes to show how hard it is to specialise, It's so easy to go off into another collecting area :)

Absolute pain to package and ship the bigger domes :(

    Not a problem if buying/selling from a b & m shop

I have one, it's a little memorial, flowers from my mom and dad's funerals along with my mom's wedding ring.
