    Be careful with the gilding, it is not as permanent as the colours ...gilding preservation will determine value. Try to do as little as possible cleaning. I would just clean the portrait first, as I suggested on page 1.

    Hope she snagged it, please let us know how the marks come off of the face. I've had some issues in the past with old porcelain, even some with old pyrex glass, with no idea as to what caused the spots on my stuff?
