Sounds like what I did in those days, too. I had fun looking for unique beads!

Just a historical note on the SOCIAL aspects of of knotted pearls (as opposed to the TECNICAL aspect). With graduated pearls those 10mm and over should be double knotted between each pearl, smaller, medium orbs should be single knotted between pearls and small pearls should not be knotted at all. This is for aesthetic reasons - the spacing allows each pearl to "stand alone" within the strand due to the spacing. Double knotting with medium pearls and single knotting with small pearls is taken as a trying to make the strand longer with less pearls thus a practice of the
La Petite and La Moyenne bourgeoisie.

I was wondering about a few pairs of costume pearls I had that have an opalescent glow....I do have some of the glass opalescent strands, didn't they have the word "bubble" in their title?

I think they started knotting costume pearls because it made them look more like real knotted pearls. You could buy a costume strand, and who knew it was costume if it was knotted (and not peeling yet?)

The older ones do well. :) It's the newer freshwater pearls that aren't as popular. I do like the better quality freshwaters without all the blemishes.

The newer ones don't do much. I buy up the freshwater pearls for the giggles sometimes and then remake them into a different necklace.

Some freshwater pearls are nice and round and almost look like cultivated. When I was still making jewelry, I used to mix them with glass beads. Haven't made anything in what feels like forever, though.

Hate to drag this back up from the depths, but since most feel these are "faux" pearls, do you think I will be risking a SNAD if I list them as such, and then they turn out to be real?

I know that kind of sounds stupid but, with the way buyers have been lately on eBay, one never knows.

I would think the buyer would be elated to find the pearls are genuine ;)

    Okay then!

I'm just going to put them in a "lot" since they don't sell well on their own.
