Beautiful cameo. I would keep it, too. Who is the carver?

Threads go off track here, but the reason for this one is indeed sad. Could be my suspicious mind, but I wonder if there is an ulterior motive to reporting Davey's post.

Anyway, back to the thread, I love seeing everyone's favourites of 2020, and learning the stories behind them.

His name was Charles Schmoll, I think you already know he worked as a carver from mid to late 1800s in Paris. He has a few different signatures, my cameo is signed only with an "S".

Thank you for the ID. Yes, I know of him. I have 2 of Schmoll's cameos.

    Yeah, is kinda!:p
So Davey got reported for posting this coin? Somehow I think I am missing some drama here, an anti-Queen dingbat? I don't get it.

It was one of those exchanges that will always be mysterious to some, myself included (I have a fair few “new” coins myself, no complaints from me). An anonymous person reported the coin for being “modern” and “political”, though possibly they were also discreetly upset by mention of Brexit, a sore point with some Britons. As it isn’t obviously intended to upset anyone, and doesn’t misrepresent facts, it stayed up. That’s about the length of it, with additional comments regarding the validity of the OP :)

Ahhhhh Yes, the NO POLITICS! rule. That's a bit silly isn't it? and STRETCHING the no-politics rule beyond all reason.
Besides, I think the Queen/King is the head of State, not the head of Govt. (there is a difference), and remains neutral in political matters.
