If you have never been to the Grove Park Inn, it is worth the trip. Classic Mountain hotel with furnishings by Roycroft. It is also where the Arts and Crafts Conference is held.

Oh! I would like that too.

As for the people from Biltmore.
The wife, whose name I can't think of, was responsible for getting the ladies to do pottery to better their life.
Eventually leading to Southern Potteries, AKA Blue Ridge Pottery.

Agrees, yes, the Grove Park Inn is a wonderful hotel, very popular and, THE place to stay if you are in the area.
That's the thing about Asheville in general, they have a very powerful PR machine and it's very effective in bringing people into the area. Lots going on in Asheville in the arts world and, they know how to FLAUNT IT TOO!

In New York the Pier Antiques Show has folded while evidently the Armory Show can no longer afford the Armory is now using the piers. It's a big show. If you think it may take you more than one day to see all you want to catch, it will only set you back $80 + 1.25 service fee, senior discount available. If you do a lot of this sort of thing, it can be worth it to buy something once to get on a dealer's comp list!

The Metropolitan Museum has had to ditch it's 'pay what you wish but you must pay something' entry fee policy. It is now $25 if you do not qualify for any discount & are not a resident of the city.

I don't mind paying if i get to examine outstanding examples in my area of collecting interest, you usually learn a great deal. Ditto for shows, if you stop by a booth & show interest in an object the dealer will usually talk your ear off about it! Most of them are collectors too & love talking about their objects, nice way to spend an afternoon in my view.

We wish. Around here nobody gets in free unless you're on staff and getting paid to work and not shop. If you're lucky you get a dollar off coupon somehow. Otherwise you're paying rack rates. If you want to get in early they charge extra.
