    Description

    Antique Ironstone Transfer-ware Plate(s) with hand-painted details.
Striking and unusual shades of cobalt and magenta with gilt detailing. Very heavy for their size. Six plates are available. None are hallmarked, however some have hand painted numbers on the bottom.

I found this also, it describes it as Ironstone Worcester Porcelain but I am not sure that is right and is likely because Worcester used an asterix and dot which looks similar to your mark as part of their date letter system but it would have accompanied their brand mark/logo.

After that JA Bailey teapot sold for £14,000 on ebay, I would never assume a price on porcelain, but as to quality they are not very high other than a famous artist was involved.

Yes, Francisco these products are similar, but it seems to me the quality of the drawing on my plates is better - this is my opinion.

William Brownfield, Burslem, Staffordshire is a good lead from Say it slowly.- However I am not seeing that mark on any of the Brownfield ware i looked at.

Say it slowly also found a link to where the plate's mark, exactly like on your plate was analysed and the first appraiser mentioned Doccio in italy and a few other's, hilditch was one she did not mention.

However, while it may not be Doccia then maybe the mark is an American company and the plate was imported from somewhere like Italy or Britain.

STAR CHINA Longton, Staffordshire, maybe it is connected?

Kovels' New Dictionary of Marks might a good place to start, you can borrow the ebook every hour, if your a member which is free.

Here are some pisctures from the book, I can see where the appraiser got all her stars from ;) If the plate is USA, maybe check USA factories/importers, New Milford looks similar. The pre 1850 Kovels dictionary is very good and you can take advantage of the Ebook by searching words on the left, such as in this case Star.

I believe you will find that the star with a dot from that linked discussion was on a plate also bearing a Brownfield mark which is the photo I posted.
