Awesome, Cheryl! Thank you very much for all that great info. I'll take a photo of the side view today....very busy weekend and I got sidetracked. You really know your stuff about jewelry :) Give me a couple of hours and I'll post something. I hope I take a photo of the right thing....I'm not completely sure what part would suggest it's a watch pin, or why. But I will try my best!

Started off on eBay selling buttons and jewelry, but am not really a joolie, this is just an era that interests me and have handled quite a few similar pieces. There is an excellent book on the Newark jewelry manufacturers called 'The Glitter and The Gold' (1997), looked through it, but didn't find your winged crown.

What I see, and I suspect Andy does as well, is where the same wire used to form the catch seems to extend over with a loop at the center of the brooch - if so, it should be free at the right arrow (though fairly tight to the piece), with the left arrow showing where the watch would hang:

I sort of *think* I understand. Please excuse these photos...it's extremely hard for me to take photos of jewelry with my iphone and I am tech-dumb so am currently looking for an easy to use but good camera. Here's what I got:

Yup, that twist is there for a reason...

Try looking for an Olympus camera....always been good for me.

I see the cresent pin has a hinge too? Lovely little things. :cat: Could those be real diamonds on the crown???
