I've seen a lot of untested gold listed as plated or gold tone because of missing hallmarks. The gems in the eyes are remarkably clear and sparkly, in a very fine hammer setting. The cut looks like round brilliant (not old cut) and they're slightly pink and irregular, though I don't have a good loupe just now to see very close. There's no hallmark or seam inside the band, but it does appear to have some marks from hand tooling. I'm thinking it might be rolled or low karat gold from the 1920s-1930s? It could very well be modern, but it really does seem to be gold, not brass, and being unmarked wouldn't fit contemporary standards. I tried looking up antique and vintage ouroboros rings and find relatively few in differing styles, unlike the typical look of the cute, flat-faced little victorian/edwardian snake rings
