We called Etsy Vintage on Millenium souvenirs a while ago, but they're 24 years old now. What does that make ME?

There's a guy named Joey Vento who lived in Queens and he collected a lot of souvenirs when they were tearing down the 1964-65 World's Fair. He also collects movie props from horror films. He has a garage or shed that he turned into a museum. He lives just north of the city. In the past he's posted photos of his collection on the World's Fair FB page.

My parents went to that fair on a date.(LOL) I keep hoping someone like that dude will spark an interest in it, and memorabelia prices will go up. The horror film props are doing just fine on their own.

I was at the '82 one when I was a kid.

I had family that went to the 1965 AND 1939 ones.

My parents were both at the 1939 as kids. North Jersey kids - probably took a ferry with their parents.

Are they still holding World's Fairs? I haven't heard anything about once since Atlanta, 1996 of dubious memory.

In 1998, Congress dissolved the United States Information Agency, which was responsible for American participation in such events. Combine that with the financial losses suffered by host cities and it's little wonder no one stateside has been eager to mount a world's fair.

I don't think one here after New York made any money.

    I just found this thread.
I used to watch The Walking Dead when it first came on and for a number of years after. Then they killed off the good characters and the show got boring.
    Stopped watching it.

I went to the world's fair when it was in Queens, NY.
    What a blast.

I think I watched 2 episodes and then quit lol. Haven't even fully watched the one I was in... Or the spin off I did props on. :hilarious: It just wasn't my thing. I have a couple friends who enjoyed it though.

I watched it. loved catching some of the silly mistakes they made, and otherwise just had fun with it.

Hubs and I organized a trip to Vancouver for Expo '86. I was pregnant with our son. We were joined by 4 of his adult kids, their spouses, 1 m-i-l, 2 grandkids and our 4 year-old daughter. It was wonderful and stressful and memorable. But I think it was totally responsible for my dislike of crowds. I can't imagine being able to afford doing it today.

I bought my first 4 masks....... but it would be 4 years before I turned that luv of NWC ART into my vocation..

I was at the Vancouver Expo 86, too, considering I don't live that far away. It WAS crowded, but fun. It was the first time we spent the night away from our daughter who was about 18 months at the time.

My cousin was 22 and I was 14. We had no money. We drove down and slept in the car in the parking lot outside the Florida pavilion for a week. The guys let us in to use the staff bathrooms to clean up. We got in for free early every morning and got free OJ. The Fair was magical at night.
We went back with her mother and stepfather in 65 and stayed in a motel. It wasn't as much fun to me.
