Then beginning in 1915, most Japanese export pottery was labeled Made in Nippon. <b>Next, conforming to the English language requirement, beginning in 1921 the pottery (and glass and metal) then said Made in Japan.</b> That held until WWII when virtually all exporting/importing of non-essentials ended. When exporting resumed at the end of the 1940s, goods from Japan often said (with some implied anger) Made in Occupied Japan.
