Again ...thanks to all. I agree it was special occasion..It really is too light weight to provide any warmth...It also seems virtually unused. And yes...I do believe my aunt in saying it was from my great great grandmother..thereby dating it to 1800s..IF it was made for my great grandmother's birth (who handed it down)..she was born in 1858. I find this all very exciting and interesting. !!!

    Very cool JanetteKay,
It IS exciting and interesting! So now, be sure to update the info with what you know... put some names, places and dates on the paperwork including the current date. I'd personally invest in some acid free tissue and if possible an acid free box. At least make sure that the acid free tissue covers all the textile. Definitely no plastic bags! With the paperwork, I'd personally make sure that the writing on it wouldn't bleed off on to the textile - (like a water soluble marker). Make sure it is permanent ink and dry.

Truly a special heirloom! Thanks for sharing with us!

Personally, I've gone back to pencils.

Ever noticed artists sign their prints in pencil. It doesn't fade. Your notes are going to be on top of the tissue, maybe even in an enevelope. Pencil will outlast pen.

That is awesome! Be sure to add everyone's comments... I enjoyed all the comments and I would imagine that your fam in 50 years/100 years would be interested in the commentary also! Yes, pencil will outlast pen!
    Blessings be,
    Leslie
