Good idea. I'll talk it over with them. They go through live auctioneers, so I think I get the bid amount and they get the premium, but I'll check.

Well that's completely astonishing. Same pattern from roughly the same country of origin. I don't know what you are doing up at 3:30 in the morning, but I'm sure glad you were. Do you know anything about your mug? If not, I hope this thread helped you discover some things.

China painting in the early 1900s was a popular hobby that continued on for many years.
Patterns were available to be purchased, and you bought plain white china to paint.

You will find the same patterns repeated because some patterns were very popular.

As I've mentioned many times. There are good painters and there are amateurish painters.

@KikoBlueEyes Just staying up too late catching up on emails after 3 days of working on my truck and feeling like some one beat me with a baseball bat...lol... plus, with a 4 year old boy ( and on semi lockdown, It gives me some "me" time.... I found mine in an antique store in Soquel , California, when I was on my shaving kick..... Had to buy it , shaving mug with pine cones, me working for Cal Fire ( Department of Forestry ) for 20 years..... I knew it was not a repro, there are so many repro shaving mugs , and it was about $20 so it was a bargain.... I have a few "special" shaving mugs I just liked so much i had to buy them ...... I still use a mug and a brush , but not straight razor , just double edge razors and my favorite is the Ever-ready 1910 or so single edge razor, you have to buy Pathology lab single edge blades, but it is the closest to a straight razor shave you can get ... gotta love that baby butt smooth shave with Bay Rum aftershave.... makes me feel like I am back in 1967 with "Brownie" , the 85 year old Barber cutting my 6 year old selfs hair , wondering if he is going to slip and cut my ear off.......lol

Wow. That is one difficult job fighting forest fires. I am grateful that you spent 20 of your life doing this and want to thank you for keeping California safe. I figured when the design had a name that there had to be other pieces out there and I thank you for showing me yours. Do you have a photo of your collection?

I appreciate this information. I think it is still popular. There is a store where I live called "Color Me Mine" that is thriving with blanks to paint and firing of people's works.
