First, the outrageous leftover silver polish (last pic) is not of my doing; and the apparent yellow at the bottom edges (pics 1 & 2) are artifacts of lighting, not brass. ~2 3/8" long, 1 1/8" wide, almost 5/8" thick; ~17 1/2 grams. It has been sat-on, or otherwise stressed; there is some distortion, but the lid-catch still works every time. My ambivalence about whether or not it's marked has to do with the lid-spring; in the last pic can be seen something that may be an identifier. But there's so much black gunk on the spring that I'm not at all sure I can safely clean the area sufficiently to reveal what it may be; I have, and will use, an ultrasonic cleaner to make an initial attempt. Otherwise I cannot find any pertinent ID marking. This case has been used enough that the striker is quite worn, almost smooth over maybe 25% of its area. Your comments about its style, age, and potential origin will be most welcome! Thanks for lookin'!
